You may think that NBC stands for National Broadcasting Company but you are wrong. It may have started out that that way but now it stands for “Nothing But Commercials”.
When you watch programming on this network (and all other networks) you need to be prepared. The actual content of most of the programming is only about one minute for every three minutes of commercials. That means that for a one hour program you are actually watching 15 minutes of programming and 45 minutes of commercials, repeated “Up next” promos and the newly devised “in programming” product advertising.
If you don’t record your program, you are wasting 45 minutes of your time and your life. Even when you record your show, you can get really irritated of fast forwarding, running past each set of commercials and having to rewind back to the show. Then, you to do it all over again a couple of minutes later.
Let me give you one example: ‘The Today Show’.
There’s a reason that The Today Show now runs for three hours every morning. It’s because the promos and commercials take up most of that time. Of the three hours that it is on, programming is less than an hour. It’s unbelievable!
Have you ever watched a movie like ‘Jurassic Park’ on TV? It was two hours long in the theater and it is three hours long on every network.
Another big offender is CNN. Most of CNN’s ratings are down, so they run more commercials to make up revenue for not being able to charge as much per thirty second spot.
So, do you know what CNN stands for now?
Either of these are acceptable: Certainly Not News and Contains No News.
But if you said “Commercials. Not News” you are correct!
